Dubwerks' GIAC powered GTI, the "cherry bomb", on Speed Channel....
Dubwerks' 2002 1.8T GTI, the "cherry bomb", powered by GIAC software ran an 11-second quarter -mile on the Speed Channel's "Pinks All Out Takes" in St. Louis, Missouri. Rich Lindstrom, of Dubwerks, was one of 500 possible contestants and achieved the second fastest time for the import group at 11.8 sec and 122 mph. The episode showcases the "cherry bomb" on and off the quartermile strip and airs a few minutes of an interview with Rich Lindstrom.
Dubwerks' "cherry bomb" has custom-tuned GIAC software, a GT30R turbo, and DSR cams. Other upgrades include the rods, injectors, fuel pump, front-mounted intercooler and exhaust system. The compression has been lowered but the pistons remain stock and all sensors have been left functionally intact including the MAF.
