Flashloader software switching
GIAC's Flashloader switchers allow you to switch between your favorite GIAC performance software and your stock
software with the touch of a button. Flashloader software switching comes in a Windows® based
application for your PC, a pocket-sized hand-held device that plugs directly into the ECU serial port, or a
smartphone wireless application. All Flashloader switching products enable two to five switching programs
and use serial flashing technology, requiring no additional hardware within the ECU.
Flashloader pc-based software
Free downloads are available for computers running Windows® for switching options. A generic OBD-II to USB
cable with K-line support is required for the proper interface from a computer to the car. After
installing the free switching application and plugging in the generic OBD-II cable to the computer's USB and car's
OBD-II port, the user may click the buttons to switch modes easily. Cycling the ignition will save the new mode to the ECU's memory and retain its state
until switched again.
Flashloader handheld switcher
GIAC's Flashloader Handheld Switcher allows users to switch between GIAC-tuned software programs
with the touch of a button. The product is a pocket-sized,hand-held device that plugs directly into the
DME port. It uses serial flashing technology and requires no additional hardware within the DME.
Enthusiasts can now enjoy GIAC software from their smartphones. GIAC's new Flashloader Wireless
App (FWA) offers useful enthusiast tools as well as remote GIAC software switching when used with a
Additional FWA accessories are in development and will be added as completed via remote firmware updates.
The GIAC FWA is available free on the Android Market. Other smartphone platforms may follow. GIAC performance
software and the GIAC DTM can be purchased from your local authorized GIAC dealer.
Flashloader wireless app: switcher utility
There is a new way to switch between GIAC software programs for Android smartphone users. Like its predecessor, the Flashloader Handheld Switcher, the Flashloader Wireless Application(FWA) switcher utility allows users to switch between GIAC-tuned software programs with the touch of a button. The product uses a small receiver, the DME Transceiver Module(DTM), which plugs directly into the DME port. Switching is performed in the DTM with direction from your smartphone touch screen. The FWA Switcher utility communicates with the DTM every time you select a screen button.

Note: It is against the law to use a computer, cell phone, or other device of distraction while driving. GIAC's pump performance software requires the highest octane gas available (91+). GIAC's race programs require race gas (100+ octane). All GIAC software is for racing or off-road use only. GIAC does not endorse its software for street use.
The "Kill" button can only be selected while the car is on and the RPMs are zero. Although the
other modes can be selected while the car is moving, we do not recommend using the switcher while driving.
For driver safety and the safety of others, drivers should ensure that the car is parked and out of traffic
while operating any switching product.

FWA Switcher Utility FAQs
If I get a phone call or need to use another App after I have selected my desired mode, what will happen?
Nothing. The last mode selected will remain active in the DME until a new mode is selected even if the FWA, car, phone or all are powered off.
Can I switch modes while driving?
The "Kill" button can only be selected while the car is on and RPMs are zero. Although the other modes can be selected while the car is moving, GIAC does not recommend using FWA while driving. For driver safety and the safety of others, drivers should ensure that the car is parked and out of traffic while operating any Flashloader switching product. Note: It is against the law to use a computer, cell phone or other device of distraction while driving.
It seems like the FHH switcher would be ideal to use while dyno testing my new software.
For dyno testing the difference between stock and performance, we do not recommend switching between stock and performance mappings with a GIAC switching accessory product, while on the dyno. Many data values are held in ram while the ECU is running. When the user switches performance settings with a switcher, he changes which maps are used by the ECU, but the maps in memory are not immediately replaced nor are adaptation values. For precise measurement purposes, the user may need to cycle the ignition, run at wide open throttle and let the motor cool a few times.
Flashing completely back to stock and then to performance with a GIAC dealer allows for faster adaptation, as all previous maps and adaptation will be wiped from memory during the process of flashing the ECU. For the most accurate dyno testing, use the original stock chip versus the GIAC Flash.
What type of gas should I use?
Regular GIAC performance software, indicated by PUMP on the FHH and FWA, requires the highest octane gas available (91+).
GIAC's race programs, indicated by RACE on the FHH and FWA require race gas (100+ octane).
I can’t wait to street race my with my new FWA. Is that okay to do?
No. GIAC software is endorsed for racing or off-road use. GIAC does not endorse street racing of any kind. Go use a track.
